Week One RESPONSE: Act III Scene I

"I wish we may; but yet have I a mind
That fears him much, and my misgiving still
Falls Shrewdly to the purpose.(Shakespeare 105)"

This passage is being said by Cassius to Brutus about Antony. Cassius feels as if Antony is not one to trust on. This passage is significant because it shows us another face of Cassius. It makes us wonder who really Cassius is or who he is pretending to be. He seems as a "hard boy" who goes for it all, yet this passage to me is showing him as a punk! Why is he worrying about Antony if Brutus already confirmed to him he has nothing to worry about? Isn't this what he wanted? Seems to me as if he was nervous. And on the other hand it also makes it significant because it shows us that maybe Antony isn't really with on their side but with Caesar. He must've said something for Cassius to say that his minds fears him, for which shows us that Antony is loyal to Caesar, because why else would Cassius fear him? Two things say to me: Antony is sneaky and playing with our minds and; Cassius is a COWARD !

GROUP MEMBERS:
-What do you guys think about Antony? Do ya think he's really with the conspirators, because I DON'T?
-Why are the conspirator going to cry out "Liberty, Freedom and Enfranchisement"? What is that suppose to signify or what?
-Why is Antony shaking each and one of the conspirator's hands, like I kind of know its to make peace but what's the meaning to it? That part has me confused? HELP ?!

  1. Hey Mayra sorry i'm a little late, I just couldnt find you :)any way, The way I took it was that ok Caesar is dead you know we dont have to follow his rules any more. We can now make the people happy...in a way.?! Cuz thats what..who was it .um Cassius or was it Brutus, who thought it would be best if Caesar was dead. Answer to thee other question.. I think the whole hand shaking was a little awkward..because like Antony was close to Caesar but now that Caesar is dead "ok i dont have no one else to you know..like you get what im trying to say ?? im still a little confused but yea. :)

  5. Antony isn't one of the Conspirators he is one of Caesars good friends and he won't do that to him. Since they're good friends. + the conspirators didn't tell antony about the conspiracy so he is not part of it.

"Liberty, Freedom and Enfranchisement" means that since Caesar is dead they are free since the conspirators believed that Caesar was bad and was going to destroy Rome. They are "Free now " that was basically it means since Cesear is dead.

when the conspirators shake hands with Antony, I believe that it mean that since they're all men of honor and valor they must shake hands. Its probably an old archaic thing. Since they're all honorable men they must shake hands. :-* Sorry its my best try
